Modern Luxe

Right now, we’re spending more time than ever at home. It needs to be both a place to work your day job and a sanctuary. Being contained, we set about making it the sanctuary we need in these times. Home projects and new home builds have gone through the roof with the help of the pandemic and low interest rates. There are so many popular styles right now - I love the options. One of them is this great twist that I am loving- especially going into winter.

Modern Luxe

The new traditional.

Modern Luxe has become the new look of traditional. It brings elements of the popular midcentury minimal style together with the cushy, luxurious materials that everyone wants to sink into. It’s upscale. It’s simple. It’s soft. It’s clean.

The wood tones are warm, paint colors in off-whites or even floral wallpaper, faux fur throws, chunky knit blankets and velvet pillows. The lighting finishes are in golds and blacks. There may be a thin-legged midcentury table with metal chairs, a cone cluster pendant hanging from a barn beam and reclaimed wood flooring beneath. Sconces with short arms or adjustable arms add that touch of detail found in custom homes. Sconces are going over kitchen sinks and windows, over tall headboards, out from the crown molding over book shelves and over work spaces. A set of three to five sconces gives such a stunning, dramatic effect.

Find a place for a cluster pendant or a low-hanging chandelier. A cluster pendant is beautiful tucked in the corner of a den, next to the end of a sofa, or over the stairs. Cluster pendants can be individual pendants hung in a custom design or from one canopy with a variety of light options. Choose them for geometric shapes or the translucent shade colors in a number of metallic finishes. If not a cluster pendant, a visually heavier chandelier that hangs low over a coffee table adds an inviting feel to come sit and read or visit for a long while.
